Revealing the True Art of Beauty
"Creation comes from the true inner self and that's what make it possess its own beauty." A collection inspired by Canadian painter Paul Emile Bordua, combining simplicity and bold shapes with contrasting colours.
This is a sport portraiture shoot which I have done, challenging myself to see if I can complete a shoot with good results using a different piece of equipment from what I usually use.
With sacrificing some sleep doing research and recce for locations, the shoot was put together within a very short period of time. I am very fortunate to get all the help I need to make this shoot happen. I have managed to borrow a Canon 500D, a 15 mega-pixel entry-level DSLR, announced by Canon in 2009. The camera may be a 7-year old technology with limited capabilities, I think it performed pretty well in the shoot. The results to me are great and they are exactly what I visualised. What I have learnt from this shoot is with a strong concept in mind, preparation well made and help from people who is willing to believe in you, there is nothing one cannot achieve. Not even if the equipment is an entry level one or a 7-year old one.

Jersey Boys – The Story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, an internationally acclaimed musical that tells a true life story of how four New Jersey boys found their own unique voice, wrote their own songs, sold 100 millions records worldwide and became one of the most successful bands in pop music history. Marina Bay Sands invites its distinguished card members to a spectacular night of Rock & Roll with the Jersey Boys at its Mastercard Theatres and only a direct mailer as impressive as the musical itself is good enough for Marina Bay Sands’s distinguished members.
The direct mailer cover features a retro broadway musical-like background with red curtains and light bulbs that formed one of Jersey Boys’ greatest hits ‘OH, What A Night!’. The mailer “pops into” the other side of the stage with Jersey Boys in their famous stance and a “golden ticket” is presented to the recipient when the mailer is pulled open.
Jimmy + Estee Wedding Invitation Card
The design of this wedding invitation card is a page of Chinese calendar we see hanging on the wall in most Chinese families during the 1970s and 1980s. Such calendar is what most Chinese families during the era cannot do without because it can tell which time of the day is lucky, what activities one do will bring good fortune and what activities one should not do that day.
The concept of this invitation card is simply to remind the receipient of the important date. There is a row of Chinese characters that represents the different time of a day and the Chinese character “吉” means good or lucky. In this case, the whole day is a lucky day. At the bottom of card, there are 2 columns with “宜” on the left and “忌” on the right. The one on the left represents “Things you can do on the day” while the one on the right represents “Things you cannot do on the day”. To add a little fun to the card, some of the things that cannot be done on the day is to the groom’s favour.
Grand Dragon Master Baccarat Championship Direct Mailer
Grand Dragon Master Baccarat Championship, one of the biggest casino gaming event hosted by Marina Bay Sands every year. It is held not only in Singapore but other properties under Sands Corporation as well. There are 4 stages of the championship, namely Golden Dragon, Ruby Dragon, Royal Dragon and Global Dragon. Members are invited to join and compete with each other at each stage. Finalists of each stage will proceed to the next then finally win the ultimate title of the “Global Grand Dragon Master” and very attractive prize money.
The direct mailers for the gaming event must give the receipient the feel that this is one of Marina Bay Sands’s biggest gaming event and it is of the highest prestige. Using of premium paper stock, hot foil stamping and creative paper mechanics to achieve that.
Marina Bay Sands Singapore Grand Prix 2012 – Formula One World Championship Sales Kit
Marina Bay Sands, situated in the heart of the Formula One World Championship action is offering suite packges that boasts an unrivaled bird’s eye view of the entire circuit from its suite. The suite offers comfort and exclusivity for aficionados who wants to immense in the excitement of the race and be pampered with exceptional service, food and beverages.
The sales kit was designed to provide detailed information on the suites packages and menu for the 3-day event in the most classy presentation using black-gold color combination for the prestigious guests. A checkered flag subtly imprinted on the cover and the carefully crafted F1 crest were little touches of finesse added for classiness.
Heritage Hop About
The brief for National Heritage Board’s annual “Explore Singapore! Heritage Hop About” event is to get visitors to hop around all the museums and take part in the wide array of exciting and enriching activities lined up for them. It is also a requirement to include National Heritage Board’s mascot, the bunny in the concept.
The concept proposed was about proximity. Carefully hand-moulded a detailed diorama out of clay to give a new vibrant image to Singapore’s museums. Every object was chosen carefully to represent each museum and colored to complement one another in the visual. Executing the concept using clay because clay moulding is a fresh approach and a rising trend.With clay moulding as a form of handicraft and an art form, it is a representation of what the museums are about.
All the clay pieces are then secured on a green-textured hemisphere and in the centre is the larger-than-size bunny mascot in mid-hop. This is to portray the idea that visitors are merely a hop away from seeing the world.
Viva la Shoppes!
The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands is giving away a luxurious trip for 2 to Las Vegas this Great Singapore Sale! The client wanted to run a campaign to let their shoppers know about the fabulous offers and the lucky draw, to entice them to shop at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands.
The objective is deconstructed to its most basic form and focus on what really interests the shoppers. The visual shows an elegantly dressed lady who appears to have done her shopping and is poised comfortably in a private jet on her way to Las Vegas. The background, a luxurious interior of the jet and a personal butler attending to the lady, suggests the trip to Las Vegas is something extraordinary. The headline “Viva la Shoppes – What happens in Vegas starts at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands” evokes the general sentiments about Las Vegas, has the effect of conjuring images of Las Vegas as an attractive holiday destination.

Geladiso, boasted the best gelato in town, serves a wide range of remedies to those with sweet tooth. Both rich in texture and authentic in taste, all the gelato sold are freshly-made daily to ensure that only the freshest and best tasting gelato are served to their customers.
A sweet-looking, fun, approachable and clean looking brand expression is applied to the logo design using pastel colors and sleek modern typeface. The logo incorporated the look of melting ice cream to make the branding more trendy.
Singa Events Branding
Singa Events, a newly-started events company based in Singapore wants a logo design that relates to the company name and where the company is from. Singa comes from the Sanskrit word Simha which means “lion”. Singa also comes from the name of Singapore in Malay language, Singapura.
The design of the logo is kept clean and simple, the logo design also bears the face of a stylised Singa that answers the requirement of the brief without including any part of the Singapore flag, iconic symbols or landmarks. A series of corporate collaterals is then developed with the logo design like, envelope, business cards, letterhead, etc.
